Acknowledgments

Much of the information included in this account of Joseph Robinson and his descendants was generously provided by others. All are cited in footnotes where their data appear. Among those who provided information are Linda Dana, Cindy Dickinson, Daisy Elliott, Anita Wilhite Fisher, Sandra Harris, Barbara Joyce, Dorothy Koenig, Bryan Penfold, Virginia Rhoades, Patty Ritter, Matt Robinson, Karen Scales, Betty Jewell Stepanich, Bob Thompson and Raymond M. Ware. I thank them all for their contribution. Thanks also to Doris Greder (now deceased), Raymond Hunt, and Robert Hunt (now deceased), for their help and encouragement.

I am grateful to those who shared the result of so much of their hard work and wish to express a special thanks to the following people.

Alexandra D. Bybee, Bioarchaeology Specialist with Cultural Resource Analysts, Inc., graciously provided the location of the cemetery where John Robinson, his wife Sarah Robinson, and their granddaughter Nancy M. Bryant are buried, including inscriptions and photos of the stones.

A very special thanks to the person, whose name is unknown, who brought this cemetery to the attention of Ball Homes, developer of this residential area, and the Army Corps of Engineers. Due to the small area, about 12 square yards, and the fact that the stones were covered by several inches of topsoil, the initial survey of the site did not find the cemetery.

Debbie Dersham and Tina Vazquez shared information on George Albert Robinson and his first marriage to Lizzie Carr and on their descendants.

Clyde Gotcher shared the codicil to Boswell Robinson’s will, Joseph Thomas Robinson’s 1867 letter written from Grayson County, Texas, and other data.

Dawn Hills shared information on her Cusenberry line and on Dudley Robinson who married Elizabeth Cusenberry.

Beverly Robinson shared information on Elijah Robinson and Henry Robert Robinson and their descendants. Beverly also shared photos of Benjamin Grant Robinson and others, including information written on the back of the pictures.

Mr. Elwood Shirley graciously and generously sought to find information I was missing. To him I owe a special debt of gratitude for John Robinson and Dudley Robinson’s marriage bonds, Bryan Station Baptist Church records, records of the Fayette County, Kentucky, Circuit Court regarding Dudley Robinson and Joseph Robinson, records of Dudley Robinson’s family and descendants, and other records.

Judy Smith shared information on George Albert Robinson and his sister Emma Jane (Robinson) McFarlin. Judy’s data on Emma Jane McFarlin had been shared with her by Ellen Maxine McFarlin Oliver. Judy also shared photos of Joseph Thomas Robinson, his sons, Elijah D. Robinson and George Albert Robinson, his daughter, Emma Jane McFarlin, and others.

Carol Walk shared information on James William Robinson and his descendants and other records. Carol also shared Boswell Robinson’s bible record, which she had received from Anita Wilhite Fisher.

Raymond M. Ware shared his extensive records of the descendants of Iverson J. and Sarah Hannah (Robinson) Ware.

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints’ enormous collection of historical and genealogical records are made available through their local Family History Centers. This report would not have been possible without this wonderful source of microfilmed records.

My husband read this account, made corrections where needed, and offered suggestions and much good advice. His help navigating computer and associated software mysteries, was both necessary and invaluable. See also Clifford, H. F. (2005). The Oil Creek Flemings and Clifford H. F.
