She was born 24 October 1810, Bourbon or Fayette County, Kentucky; and
died after 1880, probably Graves County, Kentucky. Mary Ann married 28
January 1828, Logan County, Kentucky, ROWLAND HUGHES; born 18 April
1808; died 1864, in Logan County, Kentucky. Rowland Hughes was a
brother to Polly O. Hughes and Atetia Hughes who married Mary Ann
Robinson’s brother, Henry C. Robinson. Roland, Polly, and Atetia were
children of John Hughes and Polly Holman. After John Hughes died, Polly
Hughes married (second) Harrison Davis.

The 1860 federal census for Logan County, Kentucky, Blacklick
Post Office, lists Roland Hughes, age 52, with Mary Hughes, age 50;
William, age 15; Roland, age 13, Atelia (Atetia), age 10, Jessie, age
7; John D. Hughes, age 30; and Permelia Hughes, age 19. Roland Hughes
is listed as a farmer with real estate valued at $4,500, and personal
property valued at $3,420. After Rowland Hughes died, Mary Ann moved
from Logan County, Kentucky, to Graves County, Kentucky, with two of
her sons, Rowland E. Hughes and Jessie M. Hughes, joining the eldest
son, John
Dudley Hughes, who was already living there. The 1880 federal census
for Graves County, Kentucky, lists Mary Hughes, age 70, “mother,”
living in the household of Rolley E Hughes.103

household, with Dudley Robinson, age 17, a farm laborer; Susan
Robinson, age 14, Mary Robinson, age 12; John Robinson, age 10; and
Sarah Robinson, age 8; Henry C. Robinson was not listed with the family.
