107. WILLIAM5 A. ROBINSON (Benjamin4 Grant, Boswell3, John2, Joseph1). He was born in October of 1871, probably Pike County, Illinois. Before William left home, his father, Grant Robinson, had relocated to Adams County, Illinois, in Payson Village, Payson Township, as found in the 1900 federal census for Illinois, page 257B. I have no definite information for William after the 1900 census. An old photo in the possession of Beverly Robinson has writing on the back that identifies a daughter of William A. Robinson as Virginia B. Linker.188 A William Robinson, age 38, married for 9 years, with his wife, Nettie, age 31, is found in the 1910 federal census for Payson Village, Payson Township, Enumeration District 24, Adams County, Illinois, page 246B. This William Robinson, reported as a “professor” teaching high school, is listed with his wife and children, Maurice Robinson, age 7, and Virginia Robinson, age 1. This probably is our William A. Robinson despite this census reporting his father being born in Tennessee and his mother being born in Illinois. The 1920 federal census for Liberty township, Enumeration District 15, Adams County, Illinois, page 141B (sheet 10B), lists William Robinson, age 48, an editor, with wife, Anita M. Robinson, age 41, son, Maurice Robinson, 189 age 16, and daughter, Virginia Robinson, age 11. This census reports William and both of his parents born in Illinois. The 1930 federal census for Liberty township, Enumeration District 19, Adams County, Illinois, page 5B, lists William Robinson, a printer, (age 58; age at first marriage, 29) born Illinois, father born Kentucky, mother born Missouri. With him was his wife Anita Robinson (age 51; age at first marriage, 22) born Illinois, father born Pennsylvania, and mother born West Virginia. Listed with them were their daughter, Virginia Bartlett (age 21; age at first marriage, 20) Virginia’s husband, Elmo Bartlett, 190 a printer (age 19; age at first marriage, 18) their son William E. Bartlett, age one month,191 and Sarah V. Kapp,192 age 80, a widow, listed as William Robinson’s mother-in-law. Sarah Kapp was reported born in West Virginia as were her parents. This census reports that William owned his home and had a radio set. After looking at several census reports, it seems reasonable to conclude that Anita M. “Nettie” Robinson was the daughter of Jacob and Sarah Virginia “Jennie” Kapp (Capp). Jacob Kapp, age 35, is listed in the 1880 federal census for Payson township, Enumeration District 19, Adams County, Illinois, page 297. With him is his wife, Jennie, age 29, and daughters, Blanche, age 7, Birdie, age 5, and Nettie, age 1. The 1900 federal census for Payson Village, Payson township, Enumeration District 118, Adams County, Illinois, page 257, shows Nettie M. Kapp, born December,1879, still living at home. The 1900 census lists an additional child for Jacob and Jennie Kapp (Capp in this census), Frank H. Capp, born in August of 1886. Jennie Kapp is listed in the 1910 census as Virginia Kapp. 108. SAMUEL5 O. ROBINSON (Benjamin4 Grant, Boswell3, John2, Joseph1). He was born in December of 1872, probably Pike County, Illinois. By the 1900 federal census, Samuel O. was listed in Payson Village, Payson Township, Enumeration District 118, Adams County, Illinois, on page 257A. He is listed as having been married for 6 years to Caroline, born October 1871, the mother of three children, all living. The “Illinois Statewide Marriage Index, 1763–1900,” seen online, lists a marriage for Samuel Robinson and CARRIE CHAPMAN, 23 October 1894. The 1920 Census lists Samuel Robinson’s wife as Carrie I. Robinson. Samuel O. Robinson is listed as a homeowner in the 1920 census and his occupation was a molder in a foundry. The 1930 federal census for Quincy, Adams County, Illinois, page 8B, precinct 6, lists Samuel O. Robinson (age 57; age at first marriage, 21), Carrie I. Robinson (age 58; age at first marriage, 22), Cecil S., son (age 34, married; age at first marriage, 24), Y. Rose Robinson, daughter (age 17; single), and Donald K. Robinson, grandson. Though listed as “married,” there was no wife listed for Cecil Robinson. Samuel O. Robinson’s occupation was listed as “coremaker” for pumps and compressors. Cecil Robinson’s occupation was “electrician.”

He was born 25 September 1875, probably Pike County, Illinois; died 1 April 1944, Sacramento County, California;194 married 6 April 1897, Adams County, Illinois, MYRTLE J. All children were born in Illinois. The 1920 federal census for Sacramento City, Enumeration District 103, Sacramento County, California, page 249, lists George M. Robinson, age 44, and four of his children, Russell S. (age 19), Mary A. (age 17), Walter E. (age 16), and, Lester E. (age 14). All are in the household of Benjamin G. Robinson at 3318 J Street. George’s occupation is listed as a laborer in “real estate.” Myrtle is not listed with the family. A news item of 5 January 1939, which appeared in the Sacramento Bee, reporting the death of his father, Grant Robinson, states Harry E. was living in Anderson, Shasta County, California. His mother’s obituary of 21 January 1947, does not list him among her survivors. Harry E. Robinson died in Shasta County, California on 12 August 1940.198 Old photos in the possession of Beverly Robinson identify daughters of Harry E. Robinson as Leila and Annie who married [—?—] Bush. Harry E. Robinson married, 1901, probably while still living in Illinois, to CORA ETTA (or ETTA CORA) [—?—]. Her maiden name probably was GRIFFIN199 or GRIFFITH as seen online in the “California Death Index 1940–1997” as the maiden name of the mother in entries for three of her (probable) daughters. Cora E.
